Sphinx Standalone

The Sphinx Standalone version is the simplest way to provide strong added security for logon processes.

Overview: No management or issuance system required.
  • Install Sphinx Logon Manager software and card reader on end-user computers.
  • End-users present their ID card to card reader and self-enroll with Sphinx, to start protecting their logon data.
Software included:
Sphinx Logon Manager, for end-user computers.
Why choose Sphinx Standalone version?
  • You want to get strong added logon security with the Sphinx software, but you don't want to manage the solution, the end-users, or end-user logon information.
  • You don't want to use the Sphinx secure server functionality, to store RFID card data or to update cardholder logon entries.

See also Feature List for a complete list of features included in the Sphinx Stand-alone version.
Where is the Sphinx data stored? For RFID cards with less than 4 kByte of data storage:
Sphinx data is stored in triple DES encrypted form on local computer and is unencrypted and accessible only when cardholder presents card and enters card PIN.

For cards with more than 4 kByte of data storage:
Data is stored in encrypted form on card, providing a high level of security and portability.
How easy is it to implement? If you already have Sphinx-compatible cards:
You just need to add the Sphinx software and a compatible card reader, and you can be protecting your logon data within minutes of receiving your Sphinx solution components.

If you have not yet selected a Sphinx-compatible card:
Refer to the solution package listing to see out-of-the-box packages available from Sphinx resellers. Many Sphinx resellers work closely with facility access card resellers. Together, they will be happy to advise you on a card that would suit both your facility access and computer access needs.

See also Sphinx Solution Packages to see how Sphinx works with different card types.
